Streamline Your Recruiting Process With Smart Hire Blue

Just as technology is constantly evolving, so is Pre-Check.  We have developed our own Applicant Tracking System (ATS) called “Pre-Select.” It is an efficient recruitment tool that helps employers easily organize the hiring of their employees. We built this system for the sole purpose of simplifying the hiring process for our clients and expediting the background screening process. Pre-Select asks strategic pre-qualifying and specialized questions to automatically target your ideal candidate pool for a position. This reduces the amount of time it normally takes to hire while simultaneously finding qualified applicants.

One of our oldest clients, Great Lakes Brewing Co., have shared their experience using Pre-Select:

“We’ve had Pre-Select as our applicant tracking system for 5 years and counting.  It’s an invaluable, easy-to-use, and streamlined tool that has helped in the growth of our company from 150 employees to over 230. The total count of folks that have applied here through the system amounts to over 12,500 candidates, so just imagine getting that many cover letters, resumes, and emails without an ATS! What we love about it most is that it’s very user friendly and makes communication between candidates, hiring managers, and HR a breeze. Bob and his team are great about working with us.  They have added many features along the way through feedback and are always available whenever we have questions. To make things even easier, with the click of a button, our Background Check process falls under the same platform so everything is easily managed on the candidate’s profile. From an analytics standpoint, we are also able to utilize their reporting tools for HR metrics. Overall, we can’t say enough good things about utilizing Pre-Select in our company, and we are sure it’ll be a huge help to yours as well.”

In an effort to further support the small business recruitment processes, we created a spinoff of our ATS called “Smart Hire” in 2015.  Smart Hire has two parts; the Red package which allows employers to lease Pre-Select for a 60 day period, and the Blue package where we actually find quality hires for employers. So many business owners tell us how difficult it is to find good candidates for positions such as bookkeepers, machine tool operators, regional sales managers, customer service administrators, IT technicians, etc.  The Smart Hire Blue package virtually removes the worries and administrative hassles of finding the right person.

Many employers have not yet realized that the recruitment resources used 10 (even 5) years ago to find employees has changed drastically, shifting from printed to online.  Has anyone found a good employee through the “Cleveland Plain Dealer” Employment section recently? Furthermore, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find a quality hire. Too many employers’ time and money have been wasted on hiring unsuitable or unqualified applicants. Using our ATS and a host of specialized searches, we have been able to find great placements in a relatively short amount of time (the average being less than 30 days). The really good news is that we have been finding great hires for about 1/6th of what traditional recruiting services charge.

Here is what one of our clients has said about using Smart Hire Blue:

“I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you and your staff for your help in my recent hiring of a sales professional. I had been struggling for months trying to find a qualified candidate to fill a sales position at Spooner. I won’t bore you with all the trials and tribulations of those fruitless searches because all of that changed when I reached out to Pre-Select. It was such a relief to have your staff take this burden off my desk. All I had to do was answer some easy questions, and before I knew it, really good qualified applicants were sent directly to my email inbox. All I had to do was set it, and forget it!  My only regret was not enlisting your help sooner!”

As a young US Army Lieutenant, I was taught the KISS (keep it simple stupid) method of planning. As General George Patton has been quoted, A good plan today is better than a great plan tomorrow. KISS came to mind at last Marchs National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS) convention in Washington DC, where all of the speakers seemed to have the title Esq. after their names (lol). There was much discussion about Serial Plaintiffs who apply for a multitude of positions, not with the intent of getting a job, but with the sole purpose of finding flaws in the employers Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) compliance to extract a monetary payment from the employer ( These professional plaintiffs have managed to extort millions of dollars from potential employers because it is cheaper and minimizes the risk of negative publicity

The rise of drug use is unfortunately not uncommon in America. The sad truth is that almost every single person has been affected by drug use either personally or indirectly. Still, drug use continues to rise with each passing year. Drug overdose is the leading cause of accidental deaths in the United States with 52,404 lethal drug overdoses in 2015 alone. Opioid addiction seems to be driving this epidemic with over 20,000 deaths related to prescription pain killers. More alarmingly, there is an even larger increase of marijuana and heroin use worldwide. A study conducted in 2014, found that between 2010-2012 alone, deaths from heroin overdose nearly tripled, accounting for nearly 56% of the population using heroin. Most drug overdoses linkedto prescription pain killers such as Vicodin and Oxycontin over the past 20 years are overprescribed, causing addiction, which typically leads toheroinuse as highs lessen over extended use and time. Over 94% of people in the United States have
